Time to Tune the AC

Published May 8, 2017

Aside from a little snow early this month, it’s been a great May! Now is a good time to make sure your air conditioner is in tip top shape. While you’re doing your spring yard clean up, make sure your AC unit is free of debris. Additionally, just like furnaces, air conditioners should be serviced by a professional each year. A HVAC professional can make sure everything is working properly and if not, will troubleshoot the problem. Catching problems early can potentially help avoid more expensive repairs down the road or a breakdown in the heat of summer.

Most electric utilities will give you a discount on your bills if you let the utility occasionally cycle your AC during times when electricity is in high demand. For example, Xcel customers will save 15% on electric charges all summer long with the Saver’s Switch program – and most customers don’t notice any difference.

If you are in the market for a new air conditioner, check our Rebates and Discounts tool to see if you are eligible for a rebate – save money while staying cool!
