CUB is excited for Gwe Gasco to join CUB's Board of Directors. Learn more about Gwe below and what brings him to CUB.

Gwe Gasco

Program Coordinator at 8th Fire Solar

Gwe Gasco is a White Earth Descendant and an enrolled member of the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa in Michigan. Born and raised in Ponsford, MN, he had an unorthodox upbringing that included a mix of homeschooling, traditional Ojibwe activities, and modern renewable energy and social justice work. His childhood instilled in him a deep love for the waters and woods of Minnesota, which led him into his work at 8th Fire Solar, where he worked from an installation and assembly position to a leadership role. Now, the Program Coordinator of 8th Fire Solar, his main focus for the last 3 years has been to coordinate solar thermal installs in tribal communities, led by tribal members of those communities.

Thank you to our departing Board members

Buddy Robinson has been involved with CUB's work, in one way or another, since the organization was founded in 2016. At that time, he served as the Executive Director of the Duluth-based Minnesota Citizens Federation and would collaborate with CUB on advocacy before the Public Utilities Commission. After his retirement, Buddy served as a consultant to CUB before joining the board in 2022. Buddy has been a steadfast mentor, collaborator, and friend of CUB.

Bob Blake served on CUB's board for nearly six years. First elected in 2020, Bob has helped CUB's outreach program connect with communities in Red Lake, southeast Minnesota, and many points in between. He has been an advocate and cheerleader for CUB's work and our team, and his energy will be missed at board meetings.

We thank Buddy and Bob for their many years of service to CUB.
