Energy Audits

What is it? An energy audit is used to assess how energy efficient your home is and identify opportunities to improve your home’s efficiency.

What’s available? Many utilities offer audits at a reduced rate, paid through your energy bills. Some local governments offer further discounts, and some income qualified households can get an audit for free.

What’s going away? The Federal Tax Credit for audit expenses expires December 31, 2025. An audit must be performed by a qualified energy auditor that meets federal requirements.
