Join us for CUB’s annual event, in celebration of seven years advocating for Minnesota’s energy consumers. This is the time each year when we celebrate the successes of the past year and look forward to the work ahead. This year, we’ll also honor the success of the 100% Campaign, and we’ll hear from organizers about what we might all learn from the Campaign’s experience.
If you would like a complimentary ticket, please contact Carmen Carruthers at firstname.lastname@example.org. We do not want the ticket price to stop anyone from joining us for this party!
Ticket presale has now closed, but tickets will be available at the door
Chris Conry is the Campaign Director of the 100% Campaign. He has been organizing in Minnesota since 2002. Most recently he was Strategic Campaigns Director at TakeAction Minnesota where we led their efforts to pass earned sick & safe time ordinances in three cities, to raise the state’s minimum wage, and to defeat statewide preemption. Before that, he was a leader in campaigns to close corporate tax loopholes and expand access to healthcare in Minnesota. He worked in the labor movement for six years as a negotiator and organizer for the Service Employees International Union Local 284 and the United Food & Commercial Workers Union Local 1189. He was trained as a community organizer by Voices for Racial Justice.
He was the Volunteer Coordinator for Paul Wellstone’s 2002 Senate race. He has been periodically active in and regularly engaged by work in the performing & visual arts. He is a graduate of the University of Chicago and from Galva, Iowa.
Ashley Fairbanks is an Anishinaabe artist, organizer, designer and digital strategist, and the creative director for the 100% Campaign. She’s worked on everything from municipal to statewide electoral campaigns, most recently serving as Julian Castro Presidential Campaign as Creative Director, Ilhan Omar’s Digital Director and Erin Murphy’s Communications Director.
Ashley was a 2016 Forecast Public Art Emerging Artist Fellow, a 2016 Aspen Ideas Fellow, a 2017 Rockwood Institute Techquity Fellow, a 2022 Global Messaging Programme Fellow, and has completed numerous organizing trainings, because she’s a pretty big nerd. She grew up in South Minneapolis, graduating from South High School and then the University of Minnesota, where she studied Ojibwe language and Political Science.
